Community Tree Planting 2011

Providing additional shade along the Creek helps reduce warming of the water, making the habitat more suitable for both Brook and Brown Trout. North-east of the Community Centre there is a substantial discharge of cold water to the Creek. Friends of Mill Creek has been implementing various projects along this stretch of creek to take advantage of that cold water discharge, minimizing warming of the water caused by direct exposure to the sun and other negative factors. Plantings also help stabilize the Creek bank and provide a natural habitat.
