Grandy’s Dam/Pond
- Dam located west of Cambridge/North Dumfries townline extending about 300 m. upstream to Clyde Road (Galt Sportsman’s Club)
- Dam a migratory barrier to fish
- Earthen dam with a concrete control structure and spillway
- Top draw, water levels in pond can be controlled by stop logs
- Shallow depth 1.3 m. at deepest point
- Bottom very soft (organic debris) and silty
- Little known about warming and other impacts of dam and pond
- Attraction for shore anglers downstream of Shellard Sideroad

Shade’s Mills Dam/Reservoir and Conservation Area
- Completed in 1970 with primary objective of controlling flood flows in downtown Cambridge, enhancing local groundwater supplies and providing recreational opportunities
- Culvert spillway capable of discharging Regional Storm volumes up to 85 cu. m/s
- Normal discharge through a valve drawing water from the bottom of the reservoir
- Water can also be discharged over the top of the control gates
- Emergency spillway capable of discharging an additional 113 cu. m/s
- Summer depths approximately 7.6 m. 100 m. from dam
- Conservation Area provides day use recreational activities
